Tennis Social League (TSL) – Official Rules

Game Play (Standard Tennis Rules)

All matches must be played in accordance with the standard rules of tennis.

This includes:

  • Standard point scoring (15, 30, 40, game)
  • Correct service rotation and service rules
  • Ball calls made fairly by players on their side
  • Adherence to general tennis etiquette and sportspersonship

No modifications are made to the way tennis itself is played—only the league scoring system differs

League Format

  • The league consists of 8 pairs of players.
  • Each pair must play every other pair once over an 8-week season.
  • Matches are to be arranged mutually between pairs.

Match Conditions

  • The playing surface (e.g. hard, clay, grass, indoor) must be agreed upon by both pairs prior to the match.
  • Matches should be played in a spirit of fairness, flexibility, and enjoyment.

Read the “How to Score” section for further information on the cumulative scoring used in this league.

This initiative is built to keep players active, motivated, and inspired.

In the Tennis Social League, every match counts – and every game can make the difference.
